Caravela Coffee, LLC is a green coffee importer based in Carrboro, NC. Working in partnership with Virmax Cafe, exporters of the finest green coffees from Colombia, Caravela is THE source for exceptional Colombian coffee, ranging from unique micro or nano-lots to AAA, AA, A grade or high quality decaf. But not just Colombia, Caravela specializes in Latin American coffees and can source and import coffees from throughout the American continent.
The Caravela Model is quality driven. Our aim is to help you (the roaster) build long term relationships with producers of high grade specialty coffee that are based on trust, transparency, traceability and sustainability, and that lead to continuous benefits for the whole coffee chain. Financial transparency is at the heart of our work.
Our business is vertically integrated. We have longstanding relationships with small coffee grower associations (cooperatives) in Colombia. We purchase coffee directly from the farmers, analyzing each bag delivered for quality, offering unmatched traceability. We have cupping labs in remote locations and well trained quality analysts to identify and separate outstanding coffees. Our staff provides constant feedback to growers in order to help them improve on a continuous basis. We buy coffee in regional warehouses. We process coffee in our own dry mill. We export and we import. We have exciting new partnerships with export organizations in other Latin American countries. We can work with you to source coffees that fit your roast profile. We don’t believe in blending green coffee lots upon purchase or in buying coffee by the “truck-load”. We believe in keeping outstanding coffees separate and recognizing the growers that go the extra mile in order to produce amazing coffee. We pioneered the concept of micro-lots in Colombia, successfully identifying outstanding growers, profiles and characteristics.
We offer full container loads or less than container quantities, depending on your needs and plans. Packed in standard 70kg or 35kg bags or in our revolutionary Perdura® System, nitrogen flushed and vacuum sealed 35kg Packs, sold by the pallet. We store coffee at Continental Terminals in Kearny, NJ and The Annex in Oakland, CA. We can also ship directly to your warehouse.
