La Llamarada
30 SMALL AND MEDIUM-SCALE FARMERS FROM NUEVA SEGOVIA
STORY
La Llamarada blend is named after the El Malinche Tree, also known as Flamboyant, a majestic fiery red tree that grows in Nicaragua. The first rains in May herald the arrival of winter, a time in which the Nicaraguan population experiences a moment of tranquility and hope. Then when the first rains fall, the El Malinche’s tree blooms – like the earth thanking its renewing goodness. The trees regenerate and the nature of the coffee lands becomes a natural spectacle of changing colors and hues. Therefore, it becomes a natural adornment of the villages where coffee growers live, since every year it is possible to delight this spectacle of fiery red color.
La Llamarada covers several of our most recent relationships with quality-minded coffee producers in Nueva Segovia. Our PECA team has been identifying exceptional growers, working with them to improve processing practices in terms of plantation management, harvesting practices, fermentation times, and experimenting to find what works best for each grower. We are excited to continue finding amazing coffee growers because they are truly committed to investing in their farms, improving quality, and developing a better standard of living for themselves and their communities. Like the fiery Malinche tree, these coffee growers are passionate and committed to flourishing and surprising us every year.
